Here’s a tasty coconut vanilla chai nut milk recipe alternative for your homemade nut milks.
This version uses chai tea bags and spices it up really well!
Ingredients:
2 cups raw cashew milk (see my homemade nut milks recipe for making)
1/2 cup coconut milk (you can use whole or light coconut milk)
2 chai tea bags
1/2 tablespoon maple butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional: you can add 1 full tablespoon of maple butter if you want it sweeter. I sampled it at both 1/2 and 1 tablespoon and a 1/2 tablespoon worked for me.
Note: links above are to products and brands I approve and personally use
Directions:
1. Use my homemade nut milk recipe for prepping and blending your cashews. After cashews are first blended with water, open your chai tea bags and place in your blender (see picture above). Blend together for 10 seconds or so to get the tea worked in before you strain your mixture for your nut milk. Note: for more intense flavor, let it sit for a couple hours or even over night before you strain it.
2. Once you have your 2 cups of raw chai cashew milk after straining, add with all other ingredients to a blender and blend on low for a good 30 seconds, or until all ingredients incorporated.
Kitchen Notes:
I used cashew milk as a base for this recipe, but I imagine you could also try any of the other recipes, including almond milk, hazelnut milk, brazil nut milk, and pecan nut milk.
Enjoy!
YUM! I love chai!
Glad you liked it Angela
I bought the coconut nectar you recommend but i’m having a hard time finding the maple butter. Can I use the cococnut nectar in this recipe instead of that?
The coconut nectar should work in this. The maple just has that distinct flavor it adds. Also, I think you mean locally having a hard time finding the maple butter? If so, try amazon.com, they have it. I also link most ingredients in each post to the brands that I prefer and use myself.
Yes, locally! Ok i’ll try amazon then, thanks!
